Cookin' Arrangements

Great arrangers like Jack McDuff could make an organ combo sound like an 18-piece big band.  The Ben Shelton Organ Quartet brings this sound to life!

New Sounds

From Jimmy McGriff with "I Got A Woman" to Charles Earland with "More Today Than Yesterday," organ groups have long been a vector for new music on the pop and soul side of things to make its way into jazz.  We aim to continue this tradition by playing the music of modern masters including Stevie Wonder, Brian Wilson, Paul Simon, Jamiroquai, and Frank Zappa alongside more standard material.  It's not a gimmick -- we see this music's harmony, melody, and overall construction as equally fertile ground for improvisation as the Great American Songbook tunes that became jazz standards.  And people love to hear tunes they know and can identify with!
